If you have a Nokia Cellphone (like probably 50% of cell phone users do), then you might be searching the internet for free Nokia Ringtones. Here is a little tip I thought you might like to save some money. Instead of hunting for free ringtones, hunt for actual file types that you need to use.

Here’s a few examples:

If you want a Polyphonic Nokia Ringtone, then you need to search for midi files (files that end in .mid). This is what a Polyphonic ringtone actually is. The quality normally just depends on your Nokia, and how many channels it can play. Though any Nokia purchased in the last year or so should play more than 4 channels.

If you want TrueTone ringtones, these are generally just MP3 files. If you want more info on creating your own MP3 ringtones, take a look at these posts I’ve written. The first post is about getting cheap or free MP3s, and the second post is about how to use these to create your TrueTone Nokia Ringtone:

  1. Hi

I am starting a new school in Perth Western Australia. The school has selected Be Thou My Vision (Church Hymn) as its hymn.

I would really like to put this onto my mobile phone ( an iMate Kjam) but cannot find anyone that can provide this ringtone or advise me how to go about it.

    Can you please help?

    Regards

    Peter

  2. Hi,

It may not be the BEST of quality, but you can go to “The Mountain Retreat” for quite a few midi files. Right click on the little image to the left of the song name, and save it to your computer. Then just copy that to your phone…

    Hope that helps.
