Of course not. This site has nothing to do with porn. Unless you’re looking for a “Topless Car Wash” or answers to “Is Prostitution easy money?“.

Sorry to disappoint, but maybe go take a look at this and get a sexy surprise for someone.

Either way, I’m just trying to see if I can get all of you fellow South Africans visiting my site. This isn’t exactly an informative post, but I’m just trying out an idea I got from Britney Spears Naked.

Check out my little Britney Spears all in red. I love my pets... ;-)

Danny Sullivan Rocks – Vanity Search Optimization

Ever heard of Danny Sullivan? He’s one of the Internet’s most respected Search Authorities, reporting on all things search related.

Why would you care? Well, there’s a good chance that Danny Sullivan has arrived here via a Google Vanity Search (hi danny). A Vanity Search is just a name for the practice of entering your name into Google or any of the other Search Engines to see who’s saying what about you. In my previous post, “Blog Alert Opimization – Google AdSense Rocks” I spoke about writing content that could possibly be sent to Google Alert subscribers in the hope of getting more readers to your blog.

No, this is NOT Danny SullivanCombining the practice of Vanity Searches with Google’s News Alerts, you could set up an alert to notify you every day of anything new on the internet that has mentioned your name. There are people out there who want to know what other’s are saying about them, or where they’re being referenced. So, you could write something in the hope of getting noticed.

Now, writing content that mentions people who are likely to actually do daily or weekly vanity searches isn’t really much help unless you manage to write content that would actually be appealing, and possibly get the visitor to recommend your post/blog/site on their high-traffic site.

But don’t go flooding the internet with my name now, you hear… 😉

Anyway, if you have any comments or thoughts on this practice, or just wanna say hi, please leave a comment below.

Say what?!?!?!

Yip. Google recently added “Blog Alerts” to their “News Alerts” functionality, and believe it or not, there are people out there that watch and wait for alerts about AdSense. How do I know? Well, HOPEFULLY because I’m not the only person reading news about Google AdSense.

So I’ve added this post to the SEO Info Category of this blog as I think that it is a form of optimising your site for Search Engines, BUT, it focuses on Google News Alerts. Though I’d love to be known for coining the phrase “Blog Alert Optimisation“.

What I’d love even more is, if you arrived here because this post caught your attention in a Google Alert, PLEASE leave a comment below to say hi.

Here’s a reall fancy plugin that I think is cool. Ok, not fancy, actually pretty simple and behind the scenes, and yet I think it could really help out with WordPress SEO. It’s called “Title Grabber”, and in the author’s own words:

Let’s say you are linking to a page, and don’t know what to add as the title to the link. How are you to decide? You don’t! Let Title Grabber do it. It takes what’s in between the <title> tags on the linked page and adds it to the link.

Why does this add to your WordPress’ SEO? Well, because the more information on a link, the better. Of course, it might help the other site’s SEO as well, but reciprocal help is almost always good. You can get this plugin from here, and, take a look at the link you just clicked to see if it added the “title” tag (I’m using this plugin now as well)… Oh, and while you’re on the site fetching the plugin, take a look at how cool the site actually looks…

I use Google Reader as my RSS Aggregator for a while now, and I LOVE it. Why tell you this? Well, I’ve subscribed to the feed for WebProNews.com and just after writing the previous post on building links using Trackbacks, I read a post about “Strategic Commenting Can Build Blog Traffic“. This lead me to the post featured entitled “Strategic Commenting: No blog is an island“.

I fully recommend you read it, because it outlines in a very interesting way a good method for building links using trackbacks.

And, to explain the title of this post: Find as much info that you can, and read it. It will definitely help…

Trackbacks – More linking for SEO

Ok, so in the previous post, “SEO Linking (to yourself)“, I explain about how a good link contains relevant text.

Ok, so in the previous post, “SEO Linking (to yourself)“, I explain about how a good link contains relevant text.

Another nice way of linking is using “trackbacks”. Here’s a definition according to the Wikipedia:

TrackBack is a mechanism for the communication between blogs: if a blogger writes a new entry commenting on, or referring to, an entry found at another blog, and both blogging tools support the TrackBack protocol, then the commenting blogger can notify the other blog with a “TrackBack ping”; the receiving blog will typically display summaries of, and links to, all the commenting entries below the original entry. This allows for conversations spanning several blogs that readers can easily follow.

In simple english, if you comment ABOUT someone else’s post in your post, and you have a link to this post, the other blog should display this as a trackback, as well as displaying a short summary of what you’ve written.

Believe me, this is a VERY good way to get visitors to your site. If your post title is intriguing, and your summary interesting, you might see quite an influx of visitors.

Now, how to get these visitors to stay………???

SEO Linking (to yourself)

Sounds strange, but linking to yourself has it’s benefits. ESPECIALLY when done right.

You might ask: “How do you link to yourself?”

And I might answer: “There are numerous ways, for example, when leaving comments on other people’s blogs”

Ok, ok, it’s not just about linking to yourself, as good as that might seem. It’s about creating relevant links whenever you do link.

But, what is this “RIGHT” way of linking? I’ve read many an article on how MSN, Yahoo, and the other minor Search Engines like Google use the actual text in a link to determine link relevance.

For example, saying something like:

Click here to read more info on SEO

just doesn’t have the same effect as:

Read an article on how Mesothelioma is good for making money

So, next time you link to an article on this blog, give the Search Engines a bit of relevance. 😉

An article that isn’t meant to teach you anything over at “SEO Book.com” actually has a few ideas on how to increase your income online. The main idea is to increase your online presence. Some ideas on doing this are:

  • Buy an established website – Not for the faint of heart or empty of pocket
  • Hire people to create TONS of content for multiple websites
  • Creating Social networks – Perhaps ANOTHER digg.com site??
  • Affiliate Marketing – An addition/alternative to PPC Advertising

I’m sure I’ll touch on these more at a later stage…

SEO – Search Engine…

If you’ve been searching the internet on how to make money using the internet, I can almost guarantee you’ve seen ads and articles for SEO Experts.

SEO – Search Engine Optimization:

This is the process and practice of improving your Web site’s rankings in the Search Engine’s results. Any SEO Expert will tell you that the closer to #1 you are on Google’s search results, the better. Think about it. If you search for something, how far down the results do you go before clicking a link?

So, must you spend money and hire an SEO Expert? That is up to you. If you are a big corporation like Microsoft, and you aren’t #1 when a person searches for “Microsoft“, then there’s a problem. Either you fix it yourself, or hire an SEO Expert.

What about those of us trying to make money online? Well, my advice is to either browse around and get the information yourself, or, maybe something easier, take a look and see what these SEO Experts have to offer. Maybe it’s worth it…
